Why is there a Minimum Standard?

To deliver reliable, secure, and high-quality support, we only manage services and equipment that meet a defined minimum standard under our Managed Services Agreement. This ensures your systems are compatible with our tools, can be proactively monitored and maintained, and are less likely to experience avoidable issues or downtime. —it’s about ensuring we can deliver the level of reliability, security, and performance your business deserves.

Our Minimum Standard Definition

Supported Operating Systems
Devices must run a currently supported version of Windows, macOS, or Linux, with regular security updates enabled.
“Home” versions of operating systems such as Windows Home or Microsoft 365 Family are not supported. You will need Windows PRO and business licensing for Microsoft 365.

Business-Grade Hardware
All workstations, servers, and networking equipment must be business-grade (not consumer-grade).
Manufacturer support and warranty coverage is highly recommended.
Service, hardware and software assistance for hardware not under warranty with the manufacturer will be chargeable in addition to your Managed Services Agreement.
Our program/s offer hardware lifecycle support enabling easy tracking and renewal of warranty as required.

Up-to-Date Software
Core applications must be licensed and regularly updated to the latest stable versions to ensure compatibility and security.
Software application not licensed with their vendor cannot be supported.

Reliable Internet & Network Infrastructure
A stable internet connection and properly configured network (including firewalls, switches, and access points) are required for remote monitoring and support.

Security Standards
Devices must have antivirus/EDR software, firewalls, and encryption enabled where applicable. MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) should be implemented for critical systems.  Any protection software needs to be either the software and versions installed by our security packages or be individually approved at time of onboarding.

Backup & Disaster Recovery
Systems must have a verified backup solution in place, with regular testing and retention policies aligned to business needs.

Remote Management Capability
Devices must allow for remote monitoring and management via approved tools to enable proactive support and rapid response.

User Access & Permissions
Role-based access controls should be in place, with administrative privileges restricted to authorized personnel only.

Reseller Access and Capability
Software and service elements such as Microsoft 365 tenancies and domains will need to be under the reseller control of Ambient iT to enable fast and efficient response when we act on your behalf.  Items and services not under our control can still be supported but will incur additional charges,

Documentation & Asset Inventory
A current inventory of supported devices, software licenses, and network diagrams should be maintained for efficient support.

Compliance Alignment
Systems must align with relevant industry compliance standards (e.g., ISO, ACSC Essential Eight, GDPR, HIPAA) where applicable.
